Brand owner corrections
If you represent a brand or company and believe information on Vinegar is inaccurate, here's how to request a correction.
Anyone can fix or add data on the community side via Contribute. That form feeds the moderation queue.
This page is the email-based channel for when you officially represent the brand: legal questions, sensitive material, urgent reputational issues. It bypasses the community queue and goes straight to a human reviewer.
How to request a correction
- Email [email protected] with the subject line: “Brand Correction: [Brand Name]”
- Include the specific claim that is inaccurate and what the correct information is.
- Include a link to an authoritative source (company filing, official website, government registry) that supports the correction.
- If you are representing the company, include your name, title, and company email address. We may verify this but do not require it to review the request.
We aim to respond within 48 hours. Complex cases may take longer.
What happens next
We review every request. If the correction is supported by the source you provide, we will update the data and mark the source. If the source is a government registry we already ingest (GLEIF, SEC, etc.), we will note any discrepancy and re-ingest when the registry updates. We do not editorialize - if two authoritative sources disagree, we show both and label the discrepancy.
What we can and cannot change
We can add missing ownership relationships, correct inaccurate brand-to-company links, update outdated company names, and remove community claims that are demonstrably wrong.
We cannot remove verified data that is accurate and sourced from a public government registry. If GLEIF or the SEC lists a relationship, we will show it. The appropriate remedy is to update the registry itself.
Reporting urgently inaccurate information
If you believe a claim poses an urgent legal or reputational risk, mark your email as URGENT. We escalate these reviews immediately.
